Hello everyone!
Today I’m participating in a special blog hop hosted by Altenew: A Year In Review Blog Hop!
If you came from amazingly talented Marika Rahtu’s blog, you are right on track. If not, please start over at Altenew blog to get all the information about the hop and not to miss any stop!
I’m feeling so honored to be part of this hop with so many talented crafters I admire. I was so excited as May asked me if I could join in. Who would say no to this wonderful opportunity to say crafty goodbye to 2016!!!
I’ve chosen 8 cards I’ve made using Altenew stamps throughout the year of 2016. It’s a great pleasure for me to share them here with you. I’ll add the link to the original post (please click the month above the picture) along with a short description about each card.
So let’s get started!
This card was made using Vintage Flowers stamp set and black magic technique. It was my first attempt with this technique and I’m still loving it. I stamped the floral image in white pigment ink on a black cardstock and colored it using Prismacolor colored pencils. The sentiment is from Beautiful Day stamp set.
Blue floral image colored with colored pencils on kraft is one of my favorite ways to creat a card. I made this one using Beautiful Day stamp set for the floral arrangement and Halftone Hello for the sentiment. I love how the leaves turned out. They were colored mainly by adding shadows around them.
I love to play with alcohol inks, especially coloring heat embossed floral images by dripping the ink. This card was the result of my very first try with this technique and I was so happy about that. If you want to try this technique I would suggest to use bold and big floral images like Magnolias for her which I used here.
Next card was made with spotlighting or highlighting technique. I chose for this card the Peony Bouquet stamp set. My spotlight is falling on the part where I heat embossed the flowers in white on vellum. The coloring was done on the back of the vellum panel using Tombow markers.
This card had the honor to be picked at the May Inspiration Challenge by Altenew. It is an one layer card on which I tried to make a partially colored alcohol ink background using masking fluid. The flower from the Best Mom stamp set was gold heat embossed and colored opaque using yellow acrylic paint.
After the summer break when I couldn’t make cards due to family trip and move, I had an idea to make a shaker card with spotlighting technique. I used again the branch with blooms from Best Mom stamp set for this card. I gold heat embossed it on the card front and on the shaker window as well and colored it using alcohol ink on the back of acetate.
This card is featuring a floral arrangement made using Beautiful Day Stamp set. The images were watercolored. I actually am not a watercolor person. But I was very happy with how this turned out. I followed the direction that Marika Rahtu showed once on her video.
The last card , this was made after I’ve got the invitation for this blog hop from May. So it is my big thanks to her and Altenew for having me in this blog hop!!! I silver heat embossed the flowers and leaves from Adore You stamp set and colored them using alcohol ink. I love the bold and vibrant colors of alcohol ink.
