Hello and happy Friday, everyone! Today, I bring you more cards featuring some new items from the Shining Wings collection by Penny Black

The first card features the Refresh (51-817) and Ascending (51-820) die sets from this collection.  I also used the All-in-One Oval (51-815) die set from a previous release to create the background.

To start, I die cut the flowers from the Refresh (51-817) set and the branches from the Ascending (51-820) set using watercolor paper. I then watercolored the flowers in yellow-orange and  the leaves in green.  For the background, I watercolored a watercolor paper panel in light green and yellow and cut it using the All-in-One Oval (51-815) die.

While the elements were drying, I watercolored a small piece of watercolor paper in orange, yellow and green to use it for the sentiment.

To assemble the card, I first adhered the central oval piece of the background flat to a white cardbase and then foam mounted the background panel without the oval frame onto the card.

Next, I arranged the flowers and the branches  as shown in the picture, tucked the floral arrangement into the oval frame, and added them to the card using two layers of foam tape.

The sentiment from the Brighten the World (31-056) set was heat embossed in Liquid Platinum. I cut one end of the sentiment panel into a banner and added it to the card using foam adhesive.

I finished off the card with two orange Rhinestones for each flower.

The second card showcases the Luminous (40-923) cling stamp. The rose wreath image is great to use as a frame for a central sentiment !

I stamped the image in Potting Soil archival ink on watercolor paper and watercolored the red roses. I colored the background in Payne’s gray and Moon Glow, while leaving the central part uncolored.

I cut the panel using the die from the  Swirly Stitches (51-502) set and stamped the sentiment from the Brighten the World (31-056) set in black.

I foam mounted the front panel on a black cardbase and scattered a few clear iridescent sequins on the card to finish it off.

The last card for today features the Sophistication (40-929) cling stamp. It showcases beautiful airy Spring flowers (I think they are magnolias :)).

sophistication-1-2

To begin, I heat embossed the Sophistication (40-929) image on watercolor paper. I watercolored the whole panel in light pink and green first before going over the flowers to color them in pink.

After the panel was dry, I cut it using the Stitches of Love (51-597) die.

The word “thanks” is from the Shining Wings (15-015) Stick & Shine set. I applied some black foil to the sticky word. The sub-sentiment is from the So thankful (30-914) stamp set, which was stamped in black.

I foam mounted the panel on a Kraft cardbase and added some iridescent sequins to the card to finish it off.

  1. Just gorgeous! I think I could look at your watercolored cards all day long! But then who’s going to clean?!? Love them!

  2. Three more beauties TaeEun and love the large yellow and orange die cut flowers on the first, and the die cut All-in-One Oval smooshed background goes beautifully, and love the way you have tucked the flowers and leaves under the edge of the oval aperture. The second rose wreath is gorgeous in that bright red and the grey watercoloured outer part of the background really shows it off and a lovely sentiment in the centre, then the last with the wonderful floral branch and partially smooshed background with a lovely sentiment which coordinates perfectly…I love the ornate edges to the mats and also pretty sequins on two, and some pretty pearls on the flowers on the first..just so much gorgeous detail. x
