Hello, crafty friends!

Today I have a 3D card to share. My card is showcasing some of the new items from the Christmas 2024 Round One Collection by Penny Black. I used the Double Frames (51-825) die set to create the layers for a 3D effect and designed a festive holiday scene featuring images from the Rock On (31-073) and Hearth (31-074) stamp sets.

df-1-2

To begin, I stamped the images from the Rock On (31-073) and Hearth (31-074) stamp sets in black onto watercolor paper. Since I wanted to show only the Christmas tree from the main image from the Hearth set as the background of my card, I positioned the stamp so that the tree would appear on the left side of my panel. I then stamped the bear on the chair from the Rock On (31-073) set and the presents from the Hearth (31-074) set on separate pieces of watercolor paper.

df-4-2

After watercoloring the images, I die cut them using the coordinating dies : Rock On Cut Out (51-837) and Hearth Cut Out (51-839), and set them aside.

Next, I ink blended the top part of the background panel with the Christmas tree in light blue and light purple, and cut it to match the size of the Double Frames

To create the accordion fold that holds the three layers of my scene, I cut two rectangles from 80lb white paper, ensuring they were the same length as the Double Frames and folded them into the accordion shape.

I adhered one side of each rectangle accordion piece to the back of the background panel, securing both sides. Then, I attached the background panel to an A2 sized white base.

I cut two frames using the Double Frames (51-825) die set from Mixed Media Paper and began assembling my card.

For the background, I adhered a strip of silver washi tape to the left side to cover the stamped image, leaving the Christmas tree visible. I added the small presents image in front of the tree, using foam tape. For the second layer, I attached the bear in the chair to the first die cut frame with foam tape and adhered both side of the frame to the accordion folded side pieces.

Next, I connected the second frame to the side pieces and foam mounted the presents image onto the frame.

Finally, I added the sentiment from the Heartsong (31-086) set, stamping it in black on the background panel.

I hope I was able to describe the making process clearly 🙂 . The key point is the side part with the accordion fold, which allows the card to be flattened and put into an envelope.

Please check out the Penny Black blog to see all the new holiday goodies from the Christmas 2024 Round One collection! I’ll come back with more cards featuring them soon!
