Hello everyone. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Today, I’m excited to share a trio of holiday cards featuring some new items from the Wishing You Joy collection by Penny Black

This collection includes two 3D embossing folders with coordinating dies and stencils: 3D Poinsettia and 3D Berries Abound. I used those sets to create my holiday cards.

The first card is a one layer card showcasing the 3D Berries Abound sets.

I started by embossing a Neenah solar white panel with the 3D Berries Abound (65-022) embossing folder and stenciled over it using the Berries Abound Layers (25-026) stencil set. The berries are colored in a blue-purple combination using Villainous Potion and Prize Ribbon Distress inks. For the leaves, I used Mowed Lawn and Crushed Olive, and the branches are colored with Vintage Photo.

To frame the image, I used a rectangle stencil from the Background Basics (25-021) stencil set, inking the border of the central rectangle with Villainous Potion, Wilted Violet and Salty Ocean, as shown in the picture.

The sentiment is foiled in gold using the Shimmering Peace (15-018) Stick & Shine set and Blooming Foil collection (21-003)

The next couple of cards are featuring the 3D Poinsettia sets.

For this card, I began by embossing an A2 sized Neenah solar white panel with the 3D Poinsettia embossing folder. I stenciled the poinsettia softly, using Saltwater Taffy and Crushed Olive Distress Inks, with a touch of Rustic Wilderness on the green leaves. After stenciling, I adhered the panel to a white cardbase.

To create the front negative die cut panel, I first watercolored a mixed media paper with Chartreuse Color Burst powder. I aligned the 3D Poinsettia Cut Out (51-850) to cut the front panel, allowing  the embossed poinsettia to show through. I foam mounted the front panel and added the gold heat embossed sentiment from the Jolly Snippets (30-925), backed with gold mirror cardstock.

To finish off, I added four light green rhinestones and yellow Stickles to the center of the poinsettia.

To create the last card, I embossed the entire 3D Poinsettia and stenciled it using the 3D Poinsettia Layers (25-025) stencil set. For the red area of it I used Saltwater Taffy, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple and Fired Brick, darkening toward the center. The green leaves were colored in Crushed Olive and Rustic Wilderness.

After stenciling, I cut the poinsettia using the 3D Poinsettia Cut Out (51-850)

3dp1-4-2

For a festive background, I embossed the front of a white cardbase using the Comfy (65-023) embossing folder. I then cut a frame using the largest die from the Whirl (51-827) set and ink blended it with Crushed Olive DI. I cut three more Whirl frames, stacked them all for dimension, and added them to the cardbase.
Next, I added the 3D Poinsettia to the card and the sentiment from the  Cuddle Up (31-092) set.
I white heat embossed the sentiment on a piece of light green cardstock. I trimmed both sides of the sentiment strip with the frame die from the Slimline Medley (51-718) set.

Using the coordinating stencils made coloring the embossed images a breeze! Paired with the coordinating Cut Outs, these sets open up endless possibilities for your card designs.

Thank you so much for looking! Be sure to check out the entire collection on the Penny Black blog ! I’ll be back soon with more holiday cards 🙂 !

  3. Two beautiful PB embossing folders, and love what you have done with the berries and leaves..I just adore the bluey purple berries and the masked rectangle ink blended in the same tone to frame it and also the wonderful swirly sentiment. What a clever idea with the poinsettia to die cut the shape out of the card and layer it over the top, and love the bright zesty green with the pink tinged poinsettia, and the last with the beaded frame around the poinsettia looks great, and the colours this time are a bit more intense…another beautiful look TaeEun. x

  4. Such beautiful cards! I really love the Berries Abound card – the inked window looks fabulous in your design and highlights the embossed and coloured image so beautifully! And I love how you used the 3D Poinsettia Cut Out to frame the coloured poinsettia!
