For today’s card, I used the Butterflies in Bloom suite for the focal image and the Stitched Chain coverplate die to dry emboss the background panel.

To start, I pressed the Butterflies in Bloom image and the sentiment in black on white cardstock. Next, I stenciled the flowers and butterflies in blue, purple, and yellow tones using the coordinating stencil set. I used Summer Shower, Sapphire, Hydrangea and Lavender for the blue and purple flowers and butterflies, and Sunshine and Apricot to add the yellow-orange accents and color the smaller flowers. After finishing the stenciling, I cut the images and sentiment using the coordinating die.

To create the background, I first watercolored a mixed media panel using Sunshine, Lavender and Sky Blue watercolors (which will be released soon), dry embossed it with the Stitched Chain coverplate die, and adhered it on a white cardbase. I then cut three small hexagon panels using the Nested Hexagons: Blanket Stitch die and ink blended them with Lavender, Summer Shower and Sunshine, respectively.

I arranged the hexagon panels onto the watercolored background panel using foam tape and splattered white opaque ink over the panel for added texture.

Finally, I added the stenciled Butterflies in Bloom images and sentiment to the card. To finish it off, I embellished the card with a few Amber, Purple, and Sky Blue Clear Drops.
