I created a non-floral card for today’s Hop ! That’s a rare occurrence, friends—lol 😁!

As soon as I saw the Radiating Hearts and Stars suite, this design immediately came to mind. This suite includes four hearts and five stars in different sizes, so you could easily recreate this card using stars instead.

The coordinating stencil set allows you to color the hearts and stars in six different shades, but I chose to use just three pink tones per heart to achieve an ombré effect. I started with the darkest pink for the largest heart and gradually lightened the shades as the hearts got smaller.

Here are the ink colors I used, from the largest to the smallest heart:

After stenciling, I die cut the hearts and set them aside.

To create the background, I began by ink blending an A2 sized white panel in a pink ombré, deepening the color towards the top left corner. I used the same pink inks as the hearts (Ballet Slipper ~ Raspberry Bliss). Once the blending was complete, I cut the panel using the Scalloped Grid coverplate die

To keep the small die-cut pieces in place, I left the panel inside the die, between the cutting plates, turned it upside down, and then removed the top cutting plate and die.

Then,  I adhered small foam tape pieces to the back of the tiny die-cut sections, removed the backing paper, and pressed a white cardbase onto them. Once secure, I removed the Scalloped Grid die-cut piece, revealing the dimensional effect.

Next, I arranged the four hearts as shown in the picture, adhering them with foam tape for added dimension.

The sentiment, from the Cherry Bliss stamp set, was stamped in Detail Black, die-cut and added to the card. To finish, I embellished the design with three Blush and one Ice Clear Drops.

  1. This is so beautifully done TaeEun and I love the way you laid out the background pieces from ount of the coverplate die and coloured the piece of card to give an ombre effect, and the stencilled and die cut hearts look fabulous over the top and finished with a lovely black stamped and die cut sentiment for a totally coordinated finished look…a brilliant card. x
