Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far and getting used to say or write 2020 instead of 2019 😄 !!!
Today I have a trio of shaped floral cards to share with you. I used some of the new floral cling stamps from Share the Love release by Penny Black. You may noticed already… the Valentine’s day is coming ❤️!
The first card is showcasing the beautiful wreath out of roses, called Winsome Wreath cling stamp (40-721).
I stamped the Winsome Wreath on a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock in black Memento ink.
I created the background first using smooshing technique. I used Distress inks in yellow, pink, light blue and light green. I applied the ink colors on a piece of clear acetate sheet, sprayed pearlized water (water mixed with some pearl pigments) and pressed it onto the stamped panel. I repeated the process until I was happy with the result.
After the stamped panel was dry, I started coloring the image using Copic markers. I colored the roses mainly in R30s and added a touch of orange using some YR colors. The leaves were colored in YG and G Copic markers. I also added a little bit of shadow in C colors. After the coloring was done, I stamped the image once again to get a crisp outline. I could do it as I left the stamp in the MISTI tool.
The sentiment is from Hug me (30-668) mini sentiment set which I heat embossed in Liquid Platinum directly on the colored panel. I partially cut the image using a Double Stitched circle die (The Ton) and fussy cut the part where the roses are. I traced the shape of the panel on a extra piece of white cardstock and cut it to mat the colored panel. I made a circle cardbase using the same circle die I used for the partial die cutting and adhered the colored panel on it.
I finished off the card by scattering some clear iridescent sequins and covering the roses with glitter using a clear Wink of Stella pen.
My second card is a heart shaped card and is featuring Passionate Blooms cling stamp (40-718). This floral arrangement is in a heart shape, so I followed the original shape to make the card.
To create the card shape I first cut two hearts from a Bristol vellum paper using my Cricut. On one heart panel I stamped the Passionate Blooms in Tattered Rose (big flowers) and Antique Linen (small flowers and leaves) Distress ink.
I colored the image using Zig brush markers and a water brush as shown in the pictures. I know, I’m posting many pictures today :). I went wild and took too many pictures so that I couldn’t pick only two or three from them 😁.
I decided to go with the light blue background which shows the heart shape of the card. The sentiment is from Hug me (30-668) mini sentiment set. I stamped it in a black pigment ink and clear heat embossed it.
I adhered the upper edge of the two heart panels to make them into a card and finished off the card by adding some clear rhinestones.
Next circle card is showcasing Rose Romance cling stamp set (40-719). This stamp set includes two stamps ; one simple rose wreath that I used for my card and a small heart with a string.
I cut a circle from some Canson watercolor paper and gold heat embossed the Rose Romance image on it. I colored the rose wreath with Mijello Mission Gold watercolor. I also colored the area outside the wreath in red, pink and orange and splattered the same colors and white watercolor on the panel.
Next I gold heat embossed the sentiment from Love Language stamp set (30-667) on a piece of watercolor paper and watercolored it in the same colors I used for the main panel. I then cut it with a stitched circle die.
To create the red circle cardbase I cut two circles slightly larger than the front panel from some heavyweight red cardstock and adhered them on an edge. I mounted the front panel flat on the red cardbase and foam mounted the small circle piece with the sentiment on it. I finished off the card by adding three red rhinestones to it.
I had a blast coloring the Penny Black floral images! It was challenging to me to make some shaped cards using them but it was also fun to do.
The January challenge over at The Flower Challenge is all about shaped cards ! If you’re inspired by my cards today, please don’t forget to link up your shaped cards into The Flower Challenge 😊!
