I’m here again to share my DT cards for the new challenge at Seize the Birthday!
The Toppings option this time around is …
TEAL and WHITE
Of course I was brainstorming for a teal floral card but after I watched Jennifer Mcguire’s video tutorial recently I decided to go with the glazed DOX background technique. I watched a video from Tim Holtz in which he demonstrated this technique at CHA 2018 in January and wanted to give it a try. I’ve been forgotten about that and Jennifer’s post reminded me of this technique: very easy to execute with a gorgeous result!
To start off I created the teal panel by blending various blue and green DOX on Ranger Alcohol Ink cardstock. I sprayed plenty of pearlized water on it and dried with a heat gun. I repeated this process until I liked the result. After the panel was dry I rubbed the surface with a mini blending tool on which I applied Tim Holtz Micro Glaze. I don’t remember why, but I bought the Micro Glaze as I started cardmaking. Maybe I watched a video tutorial and I thought I absolutely needed that 🙂 !
I then cut the panel with SSS Surely Stitched Heart die.
I used the heart and stripes for my first card.
For ink smooshing on the background I used Peacock Feather DI and Blue Topaz sparkle pen (Spectrum Noir). I cut Surely Stitched Heart two more times from a white cardstock and stacked them together with the teal die cut on top. The sentiment from Penny Black was stamped in Versafine black ink and clear heat embossed on the background panel. I glued it on the cardbase, mounted Surely Stitched Heart and added the small heart also cut from the teal panel. To finish off I added Smoked Emerald sparkling clear sequins and Glass Slippers sequins by The Ton.
The negative die cut panel was used for the next card.
Here I inlaid white die cut into the place, trimmed the panel slightly down using Double Stitched Rectangle die and mounted it on the white cardbase. I chose a thin sentiment from Technique Tuesday to place it on the narrow stripe. I stamped it on a thin white strip in Ocean Teal (The Ton) and glued it onto the card. Three Glass Slippers sequins were my finishing touch.
What a pity that I didn’t take pictures of the panel before and after applying Micro Glaze! It’s like magic! Hope you give this a try!
