It’s Thursday and time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday. There is no Toppings option this time around so you can link up any newly created birthday card at our gallery!!!
NO TOPPING
I recently colored the Peony Laurel image by The Ton using my Prismacolor pencils and posted on Instagram. My actual plan was that I heat emboss the image in gold after done coloring. So I stamped the whole image in pink and left the stamp stuck on my MISTI. But when I was done coloring the peony in the center I liked the no line colored look so much that I changed my mind and decided to do no line coloring. One problem to solve was the leaves stamped in pink 🙂 ! I’ve gotten a few suggestions how to solve this issue from Instagram friends. After all I colored the pink outlined leaves in teal and pink so they became leaves with pink edge and veins. A long story with a happy ending :)!
I masked the image and blended Soft Garnet and Soft Amethyst from the image towards the bottom of the panel. I then stamped Toned Squares in Soft Amethyst, Soft Garnet and Soft orchid on the panel. I had used one of the stamps with yellow ink and didn’t clean it well so the soft orchid on the right side was mixed with yellow.
I then cut the upper part of the image using coordinating die and foam mounted the panel on a blue cardbase. The die cut happy was cut with Peony Laurel coordinating die. Peony Laurel set has several outlined sentiments and there are coordinating dies for the sentiments as well. I cut the sentiment three times from some white cardstock and once from Silver Adhesive Glitter paper to stack them all together for some dimension. The small sentiment is from Peony Laurel as well. I white heat embossed it on some soft pink cardstock, cut it in a banner and foam mounted it onto the card. I added silver bow on a bud along with a rhinestone. I finished off the card by adding some Glass Slippers sequins.
It was a quite hard one to assemble. Choosing the colors for the background stamps and cardbase, how to do with sentiments and embellishments… all those decisions took so long.
I’m happy with the result though. Hope you like today’s card too :)!
