Hello everyone!!!
It’s Seize the Birthday Thursday!!! And we have your favorite challenge for the next fortnight :)!
NO TOPPING
Any birthday themed project is welcome in our gallery!
I’ve made two birthday cards featuring cute critters from Penny Black. They are both almost-one-layer card :).
On the first card a cute teddy bear from Flower Teddy (30-543) set is my main actor.
First I’ve made the background panel by ink smooshing on a Bristol Smooth paper. I applied Peacock Feather, Broken China, Wilted Violet, Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry DI on a acetate sheet and sprayed pearlized water on it. I then pressed it on the Bristol Smooth paper. I repeated the process several times while drying the panel with a heat tool each time.
I then stamped the cute bear holding a bouquet ( Flower Teddy 30-543 ) on the panel in black pigment ink. I colored the image using Zig brush markers and used a WOS clear glitter pen to blend the colors. As I stamped the image on a ink smooshed panel, I lifted the purple ink on the bear using clear water and some paper towel before coloring.
The sentiment is from Good Wishes (30-541) set, also by Penny Black. I heat embossed it in silver on the colored panel. I cut the panel using a double stitched rectangle die and adhered it on a white cardbase. To finish off I added some highlights on the bear and flowers using a white gel pen and a small pink heart on the little tag. Sadly the shimmer of the pearlized background and the glitter on the image are hard to capture in the picture. I wish you could see the shine..
My second card is featuring a cute mouse from Critter Celebration (30-542) set from Penny Black’s Timeless release.
To start off I made a negative mask for the heart and a mask for the mouse. I stamped the mouse sitting on the mushroom in Shadow Grey Archival ink on a Bristol smooth paper. I didn’t ink up the blow-ball to white heat emboss it later. I then adhered the masks on the panel to ink blend in the heart.
For the heart I chose the same color scheme as in the first card. I ink blended Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Twisted Citron, Broken China and Wilted Violet DOX ink, splattered clear water and dabbed them off. I then colored the image using Zig brush markers and a WOS clear glitter pen.
After the panel was dry I white heat embossed the blow-ball part of the stamp and added some highlights on the image and on the heart using a white get pen. The sentiment is also from Critter Celebration (30-542) set. I stamped it in Majestic Violet Archival ink. Maybe silver heat embossing would have been better for the sentiment. But done is done :)! I cut the panel using one of the Swirly Stitches die set (51-502) and foam mounted it on a light gray cardbase.
That’s it from me for today!
