Today is Seize the Birthday Thursday! Have you played along at our last challenge? Hope you have:)! This time my lovely team mate Lindsey chose “Spring Fling” as our new Toppings option. Luckily we are having beautifully sunny weather here since we stay home. This week it got much warmer, so this topping is just right for me.
I used some of the cling stamps from Penny Black’s Secret Garden Release; Lovely Lilacs (40-746) and Vintage Postcard (40-743). Lilac is one of my favorite spring flowers ! Love the purple colors and the sweet scent of the lilac!
I started off by stamping the Lovely Lilacs (40-746) on a watercolor paper panel with the help of MISTI tool. I scribbled Arteza brush markers in purple and blue on the stamp, sprayed clear water on it and pressed it onto the paper. I repeated the process till I was happy with the result. I wiped off the flower colors from the stem and stamped it in green later.
After stamping I added and blended the colors on the image using a water brush and the same brush markers. I colored the background also in blue and purple. After the panel was dry, I masked off the lilacs and stamped Vintage Postcard (40-743) on the panel in Potting Soil archival ink. I love this stamp! So cool!
Actually I should have stamped the sentiment before stamping the Vintage Postcard (40-743). But it was too late… So I stamped the sentiment from Special Sentiments (30-574) in Potting Soil archival ink on an extra piece of cardstock and added it to the colored panel. I cut the panel using Stitched Nested Frames (51-535) die and foam mounted it on a kraft cardbase.
That’s it! Hope you’ll play along with us! As always you may enter any birthday themed project into our gallery!
