Hello everyone!

It’s time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge! Our last challenge in 2020 is all about Embellishments! Any kind of embellishment would work! Just don’t forget to make a floral projects :)!

I drew my main image myself, a sperm whale with a poinsettia cluster! I drew it digitally and printed the image in light blue on a watercolor paper.

I colored the image using Mijello Mission Gold watercolor. I added lots of details and shades to the poinsettia cluster using Polychromos colored pencils, and highlights using a white gel pen. The background was colored in Payne’s gray and gold.

After the panel was dry I cut it using the Slimline Pierced Nested Die by The Ton and foam mounted it on a white slimline cardbase.

The sentiment was cut three times from white cardstock and once from gold cardstock using Many Sentiments Holiday die (The Ton) and stacked together.

As my embellishments I chose clear iridescent sequins to represent the bubbles in the water.

That’s it from me! Please don’t forget to visit The Flower Challenge blog for more inspiration from my lovely team mates and our guest Helen! I’d love to see your creations in the gallery!

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,

TaeEun

  1. I’m pretty sure some digital stamp company is going to snap you up as an illustrator, TaeEun – well, they SHOULD! This whale, with his Christmas swagger, is absolutely amazing, my friend! and what a gorgeous environment for him to swim in!

  2. AMAZING image that you’ve created TaeEun! The whale and poinsettia are beautiful and beautifully watercoloured. LOVE the background, perfect for an underwater scene. The sparkley sequins are the perfect embellishment! xx

  3. TaeEun, when I first saw this image on your card, I thought to myself: “I must buy this stamp” but, as I read your post I was totally blown away by the fact that you digitally drew this whale!!! I’m lucky if I can get my printer to print, LOL!!
Love this very unique Christmas under the sea card, the whale is beautiful, just like the real ones, your coloring and the touches of gold make this a dreamy scene, and of course, the sequence “bubbles” are the perfect finishing touch.
    Stay healthy and safe.

    Maria.
