Hello and welcome to Waffle Flower February 2021 Release Blog Hop!

I’m so happy to be part of this hop with amazing crafters I admire to show you all the fun new stuff awaiting you on the Waffle Flower website!! Huge thanks to Nina for inviting me 🙂 !

If you arrived here from Kelly Griglione’s blog you’re right on track! If you want to start over from the beginning of this hop, please head on over to Waffle Flower blog!

This month, the Waffle Flower release is full of stamps, dies, and stencils that celebrate the hope and joy of Spring! You can find the whole collection here! As always there are bundles and combos with some savings! So don’t forget to check them out!

I want to share three cards today which are featuring some lovely new items from this release!

If you know me, you can guess which stamp I picked for my first projects 🙂 ! Yep, the Crocus !!! This stamp set has crocus flowers in a pot and one extra crocus image. I used both and made two cards!

For the first card I chose colored pencils as coloring medium.

To begin, I stamped the pot with crocuses on a Toned gray paper in white pigment ink. I then started coloring the images using my Luminance and Prismacolor colored pencils.I don’t know whether there are orange or coral colored crocuses or not, but I wanted to color them in that way :)…. I used white pencil to blend. I colored the stamen using a yellow gel pen and added white highlights.

After the coloring was done I ink blended the background in white. I masked the bottom area while ink blending to give the pot a table to stand on.

The sentiment is also from the Crocus set. I white heat embossed it directly on the colored panel. To frame the image I scored along the border after trimmed the panel a bit down. I foam mounted the panel on a white cardbase and added some clear iridescent sequins to finish!

For my next card I watercolored the solo crocus several times in rainbow colors.

I stamped the crocus image five times in Antique Linen DI on a watercolor paper panel and colored them using Karin Brush markers. After the panel was dry I cut them all using the coordinating die and set them aside.

I also watercolored the background in soft green and light blue and stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink after the background panel was dry. I foam mounted it on a white cardbase and arranged the crocuses as shown in the picture. I decided to keep the card clean without any other embellishment.

The last card for today is showcasing two new standalone die sets ; Spring Leaves die and Tower Outline Alpha die. It became a quite spring-y lime green card 🙂 !

First I watercolored a Canson mixed media panel in light green shades using Gansai Tambi watercolor. I mixed a bit of yellow to green to brighten the color. I left the border of the panel uncolored. I love the texture of the mixed media paper!

Next I die cut the outlines of the Spring Leaves from white cardstock. I adhered a lime green panel on a white cardbase and the background panel on it. The outline leaves were arranged on the background as shown in the picture.

The sentiment was cut from Canson mixed media paper using the Tower Outline Alpha die. I took off the shadow from the white panel and foam mounted it on the background. The thin letters were then foam mounted onto their places. To finish off I scattered some yellow and green shiny sequins.

  8. Both cards featuring the crocuses are brilliant TaeEun and I don’t think you see them this particular colour, but you have used artistic license and the colour goes beautifully with the background and also the pot, and I love the bright green leaves too. The multi colour ones on the second are so bright and pretty and love the zesty lime green on the third with the super sentiment cut into the card…a lovely design. x

  9. Absolutely stunning coloring on your gorgeous blossoms!!! Love your designs and color combos! Simply stunning!

  12. Tae Eun, I never cease to be amazed at your skill using any colouring/shading medium you set your mind to. Your cards are beyond beautiful. The soft colours you blended give some of them such a look of calm & then there is the uplifting green background colour on the Hello card. Marvellous!

  13. Your cards are stunning. You are a true artist and so talented. Thanks for the inspiration. The coloring is amazing.

  14. Beautiful cards. I especially like the crocus cards. The first one reminds me of Spring when flowers bloom but there is still a chance of snow!

  15. Both lovely, but the first crocus took my breath away. Do you use any blending solution after coloring… they are just amazing! Stamping white on grey is stunning, so talented!

  16. Your beautiful crocus cards move that stamp set to the top of my wish list! Your coloring with the colored pencils is stunning!

  17. Hi, there – I LOVE so much your Happy Spring card. The crocuses in a pot and the green/white “hello” card are also both beautiful, but there is something about those single crocuses in an array of colors that is so appealing to me! I just love it! I also love the alphabet used for the “hello” card and I think the colors of it would be PERFECT for a St Patrick’s Day card! Thanks for sharing your talents with those of us who need ideas!
