I used my favorite stamp set from the latest release, Garden Roses set, to make my purple slimline card!

I stamped the Garden Roses image on a watercolor paper panel in Peach Fuzz and watercolored it. I use Peach Fuzz when I want to do no line coloring. It’s a light and neutral color and great for no line coloring. After done with coloring I cut the image using the coordinating die.

As I colored the roses in red violet and purple, I wanted to have a subtle red violet background. To add more interest to the background I used the Slimline Diamond Builder Layering stencil set.

First I watercolored a watercolor paper panel in red violet. After the panel was dry I placed the second layer of the stencil (Stencil 2) on it, applied an embossing ink and clear heat embossed it. Then I watercolored the panel again in the same color and let it dry. Next I applied the embossing ink again this time through the first layer of the stencil set (Stencil 1) and clear heat embossed it. The clear heat embossed area has water resistance and keeps the color. I applied clear water on the panel and dabbed it off to lift the red violet color from the area with no clear embossing. After the panel was completely dry I cut it using a die from the Slim Ornate Banner die set.

I adhered a purple cardstock which was cut using the largest die from the Slim Ornate Banner die set on a white slimline cardbsae and foam mounted the background panel on it. The sentiment is from the Blooming Branch set. Originally it says Huge Thanks, but I heat embossed only “Thanks” in Liquid Platinum EP to keep the sentiment simple.

I added the Garden Roses image on it using foam tape and scattered some Lavender Jewels to finish off the card.

  1. Gosh, TaeEun, I just can’t say it enough. Your talent and creativity is out-of-this-world! This is such a gorgeous card. Of course, I am partial to purple. 💜💜💜

  2. Beautiful TaeEun!! I love the shades of pink and the bit of subtle stencilling and pretty complementary ink with some clever embossing and colour lifting..brilliant. Not sure I could quite follow how you did it but the result is outstanding and so elegant altogether with the die cut banner shape. x
