Hello and welcome to my second post of this year and the first Flower Challenge of 2022 !

The January challenge at The Flower Challenge is all about Monochrome and of course about flowers 🙂 !

I made a winter themed purple floral card using some new and old items from Penny Black. The Brillance cling stamp (40-806) and the Border Collection die set (51-717) are from the latest Hello Winter collection. The poinsettia was cut using the Scarlet Season die set (51-559).

I started by making the white front panel which was cut into two pieces using the scallop border die from the Border Collection die set (51-717). I used Bristol Smooth paper for it.

I stamped one of the two greenery stamps from the Brillance set on the upper white panel and the other one on the lower panel in Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves DI. Next I sprayed pearl water on the stamped images and blew it using a straw. After the sprayed water was dry, I stamped the images again in the same inks and splattered purple and white ink on it.

I cut a stripe from a purple cardstock, adhered it on a white slimline cardbase and foam mounted the white front panels as shown in the picture. The sentiment from When Snow Falls set (30-881) was heat embossed in silver on the lower panel.

I cut the layers of the poinsettia using Scarlet Season die set (51-559) from some white, purple cardstock and from some vellum. The center of the poinsettia was cut from a piece of silver glitter paper. I curled up the petals (leaves) and stacked the layers together. The white branches were cut using Nestled die set (51-722). I arranged them and the poinsettia and the card was finished!

Before I let you go, I have a collage of my favorite cards from the last year to share. Thank you so much, Vivien for making this possible! Now I realized that I picked a purple monochromatic card as one of my favorites 😄.

  1. TaeEun, I’m so in awe of this spectacular card! You’ve made me wonder why I’ve never used purple for any of my Poinsettias!
I could choose a favorite – they are ALL my favorites!

  2. A beautiful slimline purple monochromatic card TaeEun and love the scalloped split across the card and the added white leaves over the stamped purple ones and finished with the added really pretty layered poinsettia, and a really elegant font for the silver embossed sentiment which is perfect. I love the four cards you have chosen as your picks for last year and I think you could pick any mix of your wonderful cards and they would be great choices. x

  3. I’m a purple person and you rocked this card! You had me at purple! 💜💜💜 Feliz Ano Nuevo! Happy New Year!

  4. Such a beautiful card Tae Eun, love the colour you chose looks amazing. And your favourite picks from last year, to be honest I don’t know how you managed to narrow it down. They are all soooo fantastic xx Aileen
