Hello everyone!

Today I’m sharing a holiday card on the Pinkfresh Studio blog! This card showcases the classic and elegant Whispers of Poinsettia product suite from the Twinkle and Tradition Release.

Who says poinsettias have to be red and green :)? I colored the full-panel poinsettia pattern in a fresh, untraditional palette and paired it with a deep teal background for a bold, modern, and luminous holiday look. The dreamy hues of the poinsettias truly stand out against the rich, dark backdrop.

I started by stenciling the Whispers of Poinsettia onto a white panel using the following colors:
– Stencil 1: Citron
– Stencil 2: Bubble GumCandy Violet Hydrangea (poinsettia), Berrylicious (Berries)
– Stencil 3: Bubble GumCandy VioletHydrangea
– Stencil 4: Sweet MustardCitronBay Leaf
– Stencil 5: Warm Buff Bay Leaf

Once the image was fully colored, I die cut it with the coordinating die and set it aside.

To complement the soft colors, I chose a deep teal card base and gently ink blended the edges with Atlantis ink.

Next I foam mounted the Whispers of Poinsettia image onto the cardbase.

For the sentiment, I hot foiled one message from the Once Upon a Holiday press plate set in gold. I layered it over three additional white die cuts for dimension. Next, I cut a small label of Champagne Glitter Cardstock using a small Dotted Fancy Frames die to mat the sentiment. The sentiment with the glitter mat was added to the center of the card using foam tape.

I finished off the card by scattering a few Stargazer Jewels and adding Sunshine Jewels to the center of the poinsettias for a touch of sparkle.

When working with a dark background, softly blend a slightly darker ink around the perimeter. This creates a radiant frame effect adding depth and guiding the eye toward the main image without overwhelming the design.

I had so much fun creating this card and love the dramatic effect it achieved! I hope it inspires you to try something new and bring a little extra magic to your holiday cards 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Amazing color choices! You gave a great way of thinking “outside the box” with color and it is very refreshing!

  2. What a wonderful card so full of interest TaeEun with the beautiful poinsettias and the leaves and berries in the background, which pop against the dark blue background and finished with that lovely foiled centrepiece with a terrific champagne coloured glittery frame…not traditional colours but fabulous!! x
