Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

I’m up on the Pinkfresh Studio blog, sharing a watercolored floral card created with the brand new Pinkfresh Studio Premium Liquid Watercolors and Premium Watercolor Paper ! If you know me, You can probably imagine just how excited I’ve been for this Watercolor release 🙂 .

For today’s project, I colored the beautiful peony clusters from the Peony Glow washi product suite that Kinnari designed for the October Flourish & Glow Release. I kept the coloring loose and soft starting with a very light wash and then gradually building up the details using deeper tones, rather than focusing too much on fine details. Let’s take a look at my card 🙂 !

I started by stamping the Peony Glow floral images onto watercolor paper using Detail Black ink. Once stamped, I started watercoloring the flowers with a soft, diluted layer of watercolor to create a light, airy base. For the Peony flowers, I chose Raspberry Bliss, Marigold, and Sunshine (for the center of the flowers), for the smaller flowers Seaside and Lavender, and the leaves were colored using Grassy Knoll and Bay Leaf, with touches of Sunshine. Once fully painted, I die cut the images with the coordinating die and set them aside.

To create a subtle background I first ink blended the center of an A2-sized watercolor paper panel using Coral Reef and Ocean Breeze ink, cut it with the Petal Trellis coverplate die, then adhered it to a white cardbase.

For more interest I cut an additional piece of watercolor paper with the largest die from the Blanket Stitched Brackets set and foam mounted it to the right side of the card.

Next, I arranged the watercolored floral clusters along the edge of the raised panel as shown in the picture.

The sentiment from the Peony Glow stamp set was stamped in Detail Black onto Watercolor paper, then cut out with the coordinating die. I layered the sentiment with three more additional die cut pieces and added it to the card.

To finish off the card, I scattered a few Ice Clear Drops.

For a cohesive look across the entire design, I used Pinkfresh Studio Premium Watercolor paper not only for the floral images but also for the background and sentiment.

Tip: Use more water then usual to achieve lighter watercolor tones. Start with soft, diluted washes to color the whole object, then gradually build depth by layering the same hues with less water to paint the details.

That’s it from me for today! I hope you enjoyed seeing my card and found some inspiration for your next watercolor session 🙂 !

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. Beautiful watercoloured flowers TaeEun and perfectly set against the Petal Trellis coverplate cut a bit short with the plain piece of card with just the blanket stitched edge to give emphasis to the flower spray, which you die cut and added down that edge. I love the pretty pink added onto the coverplate background and finished with the lovely stamped and die cut sentiment too..a gorgeous card full of wonderful well thought out detail. x
