Hello everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start!
I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog today with an autumnal card featuring the Cottage Flourish and Simply Said product suites, the Leafy Loops Coverplate die, and the Heirloom Nested Frames die set from the Simple Things Release.
I was inspired by this month’s challenge theme, Fall Foliage, along with the beautiful autumnal color palette. For my card, I colored the Cottage Flourish image in the challenge colors, then separated the different parts of the design and arranged them around a window created with the Heirloom Nested Frames dies. I also added soft ink blending behind the opening to help the warm fall colors glow through the center of the card.

I started by hot foiling the Cottage Flourish images in gold and coloring them with the coordinating stencil set in the challenge colors.
– Stencil 1: Bay Leaf, Grassy Knoll, Begonia, Regal Kiss
– Stencil 2: Clementine, Sweet Mustard, Begonia, Regal Kiss
– Stencil 3: Bay Leaf, Regal Kiss
Once the stenciling was complete, I die cut the image with the coordinating die and set the pieces aside.

For the front panel, I cut an A2-sized white panel with the Leafy Loops Coverplate die, then created a window using one of the Heirloom Nested Frames dies. I also cut a separate white frame using the same die together with a smaller die from the set.
Next, I ink blended the front of a white card base with Begonia, Clementine, and Bay Leaf, concentrating the colors in the areas that would show through the window and behind the floral arrangement. I then smushed Clementine and Bay Leaf onto an acetate sheet, added a little water, and splattered the colors over both the ink-blended card base and the white front panel. After everything had dried, I added the front panel to the card with foam tape and placed the white frame around the opening.

I then arranged the Cottage Flourish elements around the frame, trimming and repositioning the pieces as needed to create a new composition from the original one-piece design. I also added the decorative border strip from the same set vertically along the top and bottom of the card.
The sentiment from the Simply Said set was stamped in Detail Black, die cut, and stacked with two additional die cuts for dimension before being added to the card.
To finish the design, I scattered a few Gold Metallic Pearls for extra shine and to echo the gold foiling in the floral elements.

One-piece floral designs don’t always have to be used exactly as they were designed. Cutting the individual sections apart gives you much more freedom to build your own arrangement and adapt the image to frames, windows, or different card layouts. The soft ink blending in the background ties in beautifully with the floral colors and adds a gentle glow to the focal area.
