Hello and welcome, everyone!
Today is again Seize the Birthday Thursday! I chose the Toppings option this time around and it’s
SPRING.
After a long Winter it’s finally time for some spring blooms and warmer weather with sunshine here. Hope my crafty friends from the other side of the earth will play along with the toppings option too :)!
I’ve created two cards for today. Both are featuring beautiful floral stamps from Penny Black and colored using colored pencils. Tulips and magnolias, both flowers are Spring for me!
For the first card I’ve colored a beautiful bouquet of tulips using my colored pencils. The stamp set is called Flutterby (40-668), a new cling stamp set by Penny Black. The set includes the little butterfly stamp as well.
I stamped the bouquet and the butterfly in a white pigment ink on Toned Tan paper. I usually use an embossing ink when I want to no-line color some images on colored paper. This time I tried white ink and it worked very well for me.
I colored the images using my Polychromos and Luminance pencils, which I’ve purchased lately. The Luminance pencils have a good covering on colored paper like everyone says. And I like the coral colors I used for some of the tulips. Actually the only negative factor about the Luminance pencils is the high price :(.
After coloring was completed, I added the white outline using a white pencil. I then cut a mask, covered the image and splattered white opaque ink. I cut the panel using one of the Swirly Stitches dies (51-502) by Penny Black. The sentiment from Good Wishes set (30-541), also by Penny Black, was white heat embossed directly on the colored panel. As the Toned paper is relatively thin, I mounted it with a fun foam on a white cardbase for more stability.
My next card is showcasing Harmony cling stamp also by Penny Black.
I stamped the image this time on a dark teal cardstock in a white pigment ink. I colored the image using colored pencils. Actually I wanted to gold heat emboss the image after coloring to pop it a bit more but I accidentally moved the stamp on the MISTI tool, so it was impossible.
After the coloring was done I cut the panel using one of the Swirly Stitches dies (51-502) again.
For the sentiment I used Good Wishes set (30-541) which I used for the first card too. I white heat embossed it on the colored panel and foam mounted the panel on a white cardbase.
That’s it from my side! Hope you enjoyed looking my Spring cards!
