Hello everyone! Today is Seize the Birthday Thursday!

My lovely team mate JoAnn chose the new Toppings option for the next fortnight and it is “Red, White and Blue! For our fellow crafters in the US, it is one more way to celebrate the Independence Day !

As always you may enter any birthday themed project into our gallery, if you don’t want to take the Toppings option.

I’ve made a simple birthday card using the color theme.

To start off I stamped and cut the macarons using Macarons stamp and die set by The Ton. I stamped the red macarons in Lipstick Red, Valentine Red and Spiced Chai and the blue ones in Cali Blue, Azurite and Deep Sapphire. The creme was stamped in Vanilla Frosted Cupcake and Beach Blondie. To stamp the white macaron I first stamped the second layer in Crystal Pewter, after I stamped it on a scratch paper. The third layer was stamped in the same color without stamping off the ink. I cut them all using the coordinating die and set them aside.

The plaid pattern in the background was stamped using two stroke stamps from Swatch It set (The Ton) on a white cardbase. I stamped the pattern in Lipstick Red and Azurite.

To tone down the colors of the background I added an oval vellum panel which was cut using one of the Double Pierced Oval Nested die set. I then placed the macarons on it. Some of them were added using some foam tape.

The sentiment is from Easy Expressions: Birthday set by The Ton. This stamp set includes an array of birthday sentiments which you can cut with a single pass through your cutting machine using the coordinating die. I love it! I gold heat embossed the scripty part and stamped the other part of the sentiment in Noir and cut it using the coordinating die. I finished off the card with some red and blue flat back pearls.

So that’s it from me! Hope I was able to inspire you to play along!
