Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

Today I have a bright and breezy summer card to share with you, inspired by the Pinkfresh Studio July Challenge! The theme is SUMMER SPLASH, and the color palette is as fresh and fun as summer itself 🙂 !

I used the Summer Fun suite to create this card. The suite includes a stencil set and coordinating die set, featuring cute summery elements like sunglasses, popsicles, flip-flops, and palm tree. Each die cut piece has a tiny hole, allowing you to hang them for a fun, decorative effect. I also used the dotted-edge rectangle die to add stitching around the background panel and weave in the die cut elements.

To start, I stenciled the Summer Fun images following the challenge color palette. The colors I used are : Sky Blue,Turquoise, Sunshine, Marigold, Sparkling Rose, Warm Buff, Lavender, and Meadow. Once the stenciling was done, I used the coordinating one-piece die to cut out all the elements.

For some extra fun in the background, I used the Slimline Argyle stencil. I stenciled a white panel in two tones —yellow shades (Lemon Whip and Sunshine) in the top left corner, and minty blues (Mint and Ocean Breeze) in the bottom right. I then cut this panel using a die from the Single Stitch Rectangles set, as well as the dotted-edge rectangle die from the Summer fun set.

To stitch the panel, I used three shades of yellow thread and three shades of mint thread to coordinate with the stenciled background.

While stitching, I also wove in the small die cut elements and secured the threads on the back using foam tape. The finished panel was mounted onto a yellow cardbase.

Finally, I attached the summery elements with foam tape placing them where I liked.  The sentiment is from the Ice Cream Truck stamp set, stamped in Detail Black.

To finish off the card, I added a few Champagne Clear Drops for a bit of sparkle!

  1. What a great idea to use the shades of thread in yellow and green across the card, and attaching the various summery die cut element with the thread at the same time, and the argyle stencilling makes a great background too…a brilliant card TaeEun. x
