Hello and happy Friday, everyone!
Today I’m on the Pinkfresh Studio blog with a pair of cards featuring the Twilight Tales suite from the Fables & Forests release. The suite is filled with whimsical charm, and I had so much fun creating a coordinating duo of cards with flipped layouts. By separating the frame shape diagonally, I was able to use each piece to create two upside-down variations of the same design.

To begin, I pressed the Twilight Tales Press Plate image onto a white panel in black. Then I colored the image using the coordinating stencils in following colors.
– Book covers: Storm, Slumber, Apricot, Coral Reef
– Book pages: Sheer Freesia, Misty Coast with a bit of Ocean Breeze
– Feathers: Coral Reef, Ocean Breeze
– Stars: Sunshine, Marigold
– Light bulbs: Sunshine, Ocean Breeze
Once the stenciling was complete, I cut the image with the coordinating die and fussy cut along the top right and bottom left corners.

For the card fronts, I trimmed two white A2 panels to place them at an angle onto the cardbase. On one end of each panel, I ink blended an ombré blue gradient in Ocean Breeze, Slumber and Storm.
To add texture and variety, I die cut the panels with two different background dies: the Petal Trellis die and Bloomlight Stitches die. After that I positioned the Twilight Tales frame pieces along the angled edges of the front panels, trimmed any overhang, and foam mounted them onto white cardbases.
For Petal Trellis card, I pressed the sentiment directly onto the bottom of the cardbase in Detail Black ink.

For Bloomlight Stitches card, I first splattered white opaque ink to the front panel, let it dry and added the sentiment from the Twilight Tales stamp set. The sentiment was heat embossed in white on Storm-blended cardstock, then layered over a strip of white cardstock for extra pop.

To finish, I scattered Sky Blue clear drops and Starry Sky Ombré Glitter Drops respectively.
When working with large frame style images, don’t be afraid to cut them apart and use the pieces creatively. A diagonal cut can double your design options, giving you two unique cards from one image. Try pairing different background dies or textures to keep each version distinct while still cohesive as a set.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Wishing you all a creative weekend!

These two cards are both brilliant TaeEun and I love the different coverplate backgrounds in shades of blue and what a great idea to cut the frame die up to give a different look to the focal image on each of the cards, and each of the sentiments work well too. x
