Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great week so far! It’s hard to believe that we are already in December and it’s time for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge

The theme for this month is Use a Die!

This month we are being sponsored by Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. They are very generously giving our lucky winner an e-gift certificate for $25. Please check out their site as there are some fab crafty things to be seen there.

I’ve made a holiday card using a beautiful poinsettia die set called Scarlet Season (51-559) by Penny Black.  I know that the Poinsettias are actually leaves. We had a discussion about that and we think the poinsettias are ‘honorary flowers’ for Christmas, as Shona said in a lovely way 🙂 !

Let’s take a look at my DT card!

I started off by making the background panel with a red and gold watercolor wash. I used Alizarin Crimson Color Burst for the red and gold watercolor by FineTec. I splattered the same inks on the panel and let it dry. After the panel was completely dry I cut the base layer of the poinsettia using Scarlet Season (51-559) die set and then the rectangle panel and the frame using Snowflake Frame (51-565) die set from that watercolored panel.

I cut the detail layer of the poinsettia from a dark red cardstock and some gold cardstock using Scarlet Season (51-559).

I then started assembling the card. The rectangle and the frame element of the background panel was foam mounted on a dark red cardbase. I added the red detailed die cut poinsettia first to the card aligning it into the space where the base layer of the poinsettia was cut out. Next the base layer cut from the background panel was added and then the gold detailed layer along with the center part of the poinsettia.
I couldn’t decide how to add a right sentiment on the card, so I left it without any sentiment and finished off the card with some Medallion Gold sequins by The Ton.

I love how this card turned out. Hope you like it too :)!

Now it’s your turn to play along! I know it’s a quite busy month for everyone! But I’d love to see your project in our gallery, if you have some time to craft between shopping and preparing for the holiday season !

Please visit The Flower Challenge blog for more inspiration from my team mates and our guest designer, the very talented Nancy Penir from ‘artful-notions’

Thank you so much for stopping by!
