Hello crafty friends! Hope you’re all doing well and having a nice week so far!

Today I have four cards to share with you featuring Refreshing Release by Penny Black. This is a relatively small release but full of cute and beautiful new designs!

Without further ado, let’s get started!

The first card is showcasing Yummy stamp (30-675) and Cut Out (51-625) set! This stamp set includes three cuties with their cool Summer treats. Super adorable! I chose the girl with a huge piece of watermelon 🙂 .

I stamped the girl with watermelon from the Yummy stamp (30-675) in Antique Linen DI on a watercolor paper. The bank was stamped in Vintage Photo DI. I also stamped the daisies from Daisy Collection (30-696) and colored all the images using Karin brush markers. After the coloring was done, I cut them all out using the coordinating Cut Out (51-625) and set them aside.

To create the background I watercolored a watercolor paper panel using ink Smooshing technique in Twisted Citron, Picked Raspberry and Broken China DIs. After the panel was dry I cut it with a Dainty Dashes Stackers die (51-636).

Now I started assembling the card. I foam mounted the background panel on a gray cardbase and arranged the daisies and the bank and placed the girl on the bank. The sentiment die is also included in the Yummy Cut Out (51-625) set. I cut it three times from some white cardstock and added it to the card. I finished off the card by covering the flower centers with yellow Stickles.

The next card is featuring the cute Peekaboo (30-685) stamp and Cut Out (51-617).

I stamped the image on a Bristol smooth paper in a black pigment ink and colored it using Karin brush markers. After the coloring was completed, I mounted the panel flat on a white cardbase.

The yellow frame was cut using Dainty Dashes Stackers dies (51-636) and foam mounted onto the card. The sentiment die is included in the Peekaboo Cut Out (51-617). I cut it three times from black cardstock and once from silver cardstock to stack up for some dimension. I adhered the silver layer slightly offset so show the black shadow. The “YOU’RE” is from a sentiment of Words of Encouragement (30-712) set. I stamped it in a black ink and added it to the die cut sentiment.

I finished off the card by coloring the flower centers using yellow Stickles and adding a rhinestone on the red envelope.

Next card is showing another cute stamp set from Refreshing Release called Plant Joy (30-708).

I stamped the fun cat hanging on a branch in black Memento ink on a Neenah solar white paper. I also stamped a floral bunch from Refreshing (30-695) stamp set on a bottom corner. I left the floral stamp in my MISTI and stamped it again on a gray panel in a gray ink to make the frame.

I colored the images using Copic markers and mounted the panel flat on a white cardbase. The gray frame was cut using the Dainty Dashes Stackers dies (51-636). I white heat embossed the sentiment from Words of Encouragement (30-712) set on the gray frame and foam mounted it onto the card.

To finish off I added some clear iridescent sequins.

The last card doesn’t fit in the “CUTE” category, but I wanted to share this today with you though 🙂 . This was an experiment for me. I colored the background first using colored pencils and colored the image of the Illustrious (40-735) with gouache.

First I stamped the image of Illustrious (40-735) cling stamp on a Toned Gray paper in a white pigment ink. The image was my guide while was coloring the background using Prismacolor colored pencils. I used various shades of green and blue along with a coral and a white pencil.

After I finished coloring the background I stamped the image again on it in a light brown ink and colored it with Holbein gouache. It was my first time using the coloring medium so the result looks quite plain 🙂 . But I was happy to know that I can color with gouache on a “greasy” background.

I white heat embossed the sentiment from the Words of Encouragement (30-712) set on the panel and foam mounted it on a white cardbase.

I had so much fun making these cards! I hope you enjoyed looking my cards too 🙂 !

Wishing you all a crafty day!

Hugs,

  1. Wow, beautiful cards using some of these new PB stamps TaeEun, and what fabulous designs with the sweet little lady eating her watermelon, a lovely soft background too, and then the three cute little bears amongst those pretty flowers with more gorgeous colouring, and then to complete the cute look that fun cat hanging from the branch, and the lovely added flowers in the corner spilling over on to the frame, which you have used to frame all of these, and what a wonderful ornate frame too. Lastly those brilliant flowers, and what a clever looking background using your pencils which looks rather like swirling water, and the gouache painted flowers stand out perfectly..briliant! x

  2. Don’t think for a moment that I don’t adore the ‘cuties’ in this post, TaeEun, but it is this final ‘experiment’ that brought me here today! You wouldn’t believe how I thought you’d done it, so I won’t embarrass myself by writing it down – LOL! Amazing, my friend! Just amazing!
    I’m fascinated by it!
