Hello and happy Friday, everyone! Today, I have four watercolored floral cards to share with you, featuring some beautiful new floral stamps from Scent of Spring collection by Penny Black! Spring has finally arrived, and Penny Black has introduced a new collection for Spring 2024 !
In this collection, there are so many new beautiful floral cling and clear stamp sets that I couldn’t even pick a favorite!
The first card is showcasing the Confidant cling stamp (40-921) and the Frame it die set (51-814) from this collection. I watercolored the scene with the two birds perched on branches amidst Spring flowers. Taking inspiration from eastern bluebirds, I used a unique color combination of blue and brown for my birds.
I stamped the image in Vintage Photo Distress ink on a watercolor paper panel and then watercolored it. I colored the image loosely in several layers. I also colored the background in hues that complemented the image.
For a clear look, I drew the eyes and beaks of the birds using a black micron pen.
After the panel dried, I cut it using the largest die from the Frame it die set (51-814). I adhered the central part directly onto a beige cardbase and foam mounted the frame around it.
The sentiment from the Super Day (31-044) was stamped in black on the colored panel.
The second card features the Note Edger (51-812), Note Builder (31-046) and the beautiful poppy image of the Vivid cling stamp (40-930).
To achieve a no line coloring effect, I stamped the Vivid (40-930) image in Antique Linen Distress ink on the lower half of a watercolor paper panel. I stamped it two times to fill the area. After watercoloring the poppies in bright red and adding the stamen with a black micron pen, I colored the background in two tones of green and splattered white opaque ink.
I cut the top of the colored panel using the shadow die of the Note Edger die set (51-812) and stamped the sub-sentiment “to say hello” from the Note Builder set (31-046) in black so that it appeared underneath “e”.
The word “note” was cut three times from white cardstock and once from red, stacked for dimension and added to the colored panel.
For the background, I dry embossed a red penal using the Noted (65-005) embossing folder and adhered it on a red cardbase. Finally, I foam mounted the front panel to the card and added three clear sequins for embellishment.
For the last two cards I used the pretty floral designs of the Captivate clear stamp set (31-050). This set has two floral cluster designs. To create a floral background of the next card, I stamped both floral images.
I stamped both floral images of the Captivate set (31-050) onto a watercolor paper panel so that the border of the A2 sized panel was filled. I used Antique Linen Distress ink to stamp them for a no line coloring effect.
I watercolored the flowers in soft colors for a spring-like look.
After the coloring was done, I dry embossed the panel using all the dies from the Frame it (51-814) set and mounted it flat on a white cardbase.
To add the gold foiled sentiment I first cut a piece of watercolor paper using the small die from the Frame it (51-814) set. I then applied the sticky sentiment from the Shimmering hugs Stick & Shine set (15-013) on the small rectangle panel and transferred gold foil onto it.
I foam mounted the sentiment panel to the center of the card and added two small yellow butterflies, which was cut using the Hydrangea (51-610) die set.
I added a bit of glitter to the butterflies using yellow Stickles and a yellow rhinestone for each.
The last card for today is featuring one of the floral images from the Captivate set (31-050) , the Forever Edger (51-807) and Forever Builder (31-030). The Forever Edger (51-807) is from the previous collection called Share Your Love !
I stamped the image in Vintage Photo Distress ink on a watercolor paper panel and watercolored it. I also added a small butterfly from the same stamp set.
After coloring, I cut the top of the panel using the shadow die from the Forever Edger (51-807) set and stamped the sub-sentiment from the Forever Builder (31-030) stamp set at the bottom of the panel in Vintage Photo. The word “forever” was cut three times from some kraft cardstock and added to its place.
I foam mounted the front panel on a dark brown cardbase to complete the card !

Oh my gosh, such beautiful cards! Always blown away by your watercolouring and gorgeous designs! The first card is so sweet with those birds – will be a lovely card for whoever you are sending it to!
I couldn’t be swooning MORE! Each one is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a fabulous foursome TaeEun, using these different beautiful flower and foliage stamps, and with some pretty birds on the first, and I love the frame you used in different ways on two of them, and the two different large sentiments with edger dies that can be placed as part of a border are a great idea, and the embossed script used on the second border, and two little butterflies added to the sentiment plate on the third for extra interest, and of course brilliant watercolouring throughout. x
Absolutely stunning cards! My favorite card is the first card with the birds! I LOVE your watercoloring!!
